cool

so kevin notified me about these 200 fpp multitable sitngos to get a free $11 entry...so i tried it the first time, and lost...but then proceeded to win 4 in a row...this has to be the easiest way to win $$ out there...good thing i have tons of fpp...lol...it's definitely smarter than using 500 fpp to win step 1!

Always fishy if someone raises $14 preflop lol...btw it was right after he lost to me when I had 77 on a queen high board.

In the above tourney, I had the weirdest hand happen. With 6 people left and final 4 getting paid. I pick AKc in the BB. Everyone folds and the SB, chipleader, limps. I raise it up to $2,000, about half my chips and he calls. Flop comes Ace high and I go all in, and he calls with.......AA!? WTF that hand was weird on so many levels! First what the hell is the likelihood of that happening...actually high in online poker...but it's retarded in so many levels...

In other news, my sharkscope numbers have gone up to profit of $995 and Avg. ROI 7%. Freaking should have won a $11 45 player sitngo on friday night...i was headsup with even stacks and we went all in with AK vs. A5. Obviously he hit his 5.

So Close....

So I played in $20 180 person tourney today... I had a really good start, constantly chipping up with no major confrontations. The structure was good because I wasn't playing a turbo, which I have been doing in the past. Eventually, I started picking up good hands in great situations.
The first major double up was my AA vs AK on a King high flop. After that, it seemed like everytime I had AK, AQ pushed preflop and it always held. Kevin was railing me the whole time, and I said to him how it seems like I won every single 80/20, 60/40 allins. Things were definitely rolling as I grinded my way up to the chip lead and held it all the way until the final table.

I was in great shape to take the whole final table to domination when this hand came up. I was so pissed because I would have been dominant chip leader. Never losing a coinflip though finally caught up to me.

SB (t6660)
BB (t46810)
UTG (t43637)
UTG+1 (t47805)
MP1 (t13610)
MP2 (t18884)
Hero (t74361)
Button (t18233)

Preflop: Hero is CO with Ah, Kd.
2 folds, MP1 raises to t4000, 1 fold, Hero raises to t15000, Button raises to t18133, 2 folds, MP1 folds, Hero calls t3133.

Flop: (t40766) Td, Th, 6s (2 players)

River: (t40766) 3s (2 players)

Final Pot: t40766

Results below:
Hero has Ah Kd (one pair, tens).
Button has Ad Qs (two pair, queens and tens).
Outcome: Button wins t40766.

I didn't go on tilt though, and maintained my compusure, even though I became card dead. I did make one great play, which helped me to maximize the pot.

UTG (t11640)
MP (t37510)
CO (t37402)
Button (t100064)
Hero (t35043)
BB (t48341)

Flop: (t8750) 8h, As, Ks (2 players)
Hero checks, BB bets t3200, Hero calls t3200.

Final Pot: t59950

Results below:
BB has Th 8c (two pair, aces and eights).
Hero has Ah 6c (three of a kind, aces).
Outcome: Hero wins t59950.

The check on that flop was a beauty!

Anyway, eventually we ended up 4 handed and I think I misplayed a hand with KQ vs 55 on a board of J10844. I bet $8000 on the river and he called. WTF!

That was pretty much it and I ended up in a very disappointing 4th for a cash of $288 and first place was $1050. Even getting 3rd would have got me $428.

Now I will proceed to kill myself.

tilt is powerful

So last night I was playing with Kevin watching, and I hit a ridiculous run of bad beats and cards...it was a nonstop onslaught which caused me to go on tilt and lose an undisclosed amount...

Anyway, it's good to know that there are other idiots out there like me...Watch this idiot who got on tilt the hand before, then lose his whole stack to me in back to back hands...His preflop raise calls were hilarious.

weird things

its really weird because there are some consistent weird things that happen to everyone regarding online poker...like...
1) kevin can only win on full tilt
2) i can only win on pokerstars
3) kevin wins most of his $$ on sitngo's
4) i used to only win $$ on sitngo's but now I can't win one to save my life, and win only cash games
5) i never seem to be able to win playing on a labtop...it's weird I've noticed this for like 4 years...i think mentally because the screen is so small, i can't make good decisions or something.

so with that in the last two days...because i've tried to play with my labtop i'm down

start : $670
end : $513

It actually could have been alot worse, ALOT. I basically got on tilt and joined a $120 turbo headsup...lol...

We grinded back in forth, with no big hands until the blinds jumped to 50/100. With both of us literally back at our starting stack of $1,500. I limped with A8, he raised to $300 with QcJc, and I pushed all in. He called. Flop came 8 8c 3c..I was literally expecting the club to come, so that my loss would only hurt more. How a club did not win, I still don't know.

ridiculous rush of cards

Poker is such a weird game because I swear at times it's impossible to hit 1 Pair...let alone top pair...you have pocket pairs for 5 hrs hitting zero sets...you have 100 flush draws that never hit, open enders never come...and you wonder, is poker somehow rigged against you...

then you have days where everything freaking hits and you think what the hell...the one bad thing is I think, dammit i'm wasting my rush at a freaking .25/.50 table...haha

So I sat down 4 Tabling .25/.50 buying in for $25 a piece.

Immediately I was down 3 buy-ins from my AK vs 68 on a 644 board, my straight vs. someone's rivered flush, and top pair smaller kicker.

At this point my rush happened...I didn't even win much, but I freaking hit every hand possible on all 4 tables... I can't even write about how many hands and in what order, so I'm just going to start posting any and every hand within literally a 20 minute span...

last one in awhile

Going to head out to Minnesota tomorrow for a conference, and then straight to LA to meet my cousin! Will be back next Wednesday.

2 Tabling - I felt like playing some multi-sit n gos - I haven't done well recently in these, and I think it's because I'm not gambling enough in the beginning because a) I'm not paying enough attention because I'm usually focusing on the cash tables and b) i'm trying to play too safe which is not effective in a turbo tournament...lets see how i do...

Table #1
NL Turbo $11 + 1 45 players

Limped in with JJ UTG, 4 players see flop of KQ4...I fold

Nothing going on down to $1,200 chips with blinds at 50/100

83, 72, 84, 95 I haven't had a single premium hand in both tourneys...

Won a small pot with AQ vs KK who was short stacked. I flop Q, turn Ace. At around $2K still

GG pushed with 8 6 when everyone folded to me, instacalled by KJ.

Table #2
NL Turbo $11+1 180 players

Bleh raised with KJ pre, button calls. Flop K54. I bet he calls. Turn 2, I bet he calls. River Q, I check he bets pot, I call. He flips over QQ, lol. I lost like $500 of my $1,500 already. I'm thinking that guy was calling the whole way thinking his QQ was good, so maybe I minimized my loss.

Even more nothing going on down to $700 chips with blinds at 50/100 - Desperation time

Yes tripled up in the big blind...lol

With Kevin

So Kevin came up this weekend to hang out with me, which is nice to finally have someone that I can talk to about poker...Kevin won a good amount live the other day catching ridiculous sets and walking over to me every 2 minutes. lol . But more importantly he beat me in 2 out of 3 headsup matches and 1 omaha match that we played online, but sitting in my room together. He freaking won every race!! but gg, he played well...its was funny, we were sitting in my room, kevin on his labtop with a blanket covering him, and me on my computer playing. We figured we'd rather pay the rake on full tilt of $.15, then shuffle cards!

Anyway after the fun, we decided to jump on pokerstars and play a turbo 180 person $11 tourney. I ended up just blinding away, and never catching a hand. Meanwhile I opened up 2 .25/.50 cash game tables and went on a crazy rush in one of the tables. There were definitely some interesting hands.

Hand #1 - This first hand was weird, because I just started playing, so I had no read on any of the players. I think I would have folded to a pot sized bet on the flop, but my opponent made a huge mistake of checking the flop. His check made me think he had nothing, so when he bet $5 on the turn, I called thinking I might be ahead, but also having the straight draw. When the straight hit, I went all in hoping he had overpair, and knowing if he didn't he would just fold.

So, this hand is very interesting because there's so many possibilities that could have happened. Once the flop came King high, I was waiting to check raise all in either of the two who bet, but they both checked. At this point, I felt both players were pretty much drawing dead to me, so I wanted to let them catch up. With the harmless 2 on the turn, I checked again, hoping for someone to bet. However, after the first person bet $5, crimson raised to $10. This was the tough part of the hand, where I'm not sure if I should have reraised crimson, but I was still worried about the original bettor behind me, so I just called. The rest of the hand just played out as shown.

In retrospect, I'm not sure if the end result was the premium. However, if I reraised Crimson preflop, the other guy would have folded, and I think Crimson would have folded too, based on the strength of my hands shown so far. Or he could have just pushed all in over the top and I would have taken his stack.

Again, a very interesting hand that is perfect for a discussion.

Oh! 2 hands later I have JJ in BB, Crimson raises to $2, button reraises to $7 and I fold. Button ended up with KK. =)

End - $514

Discipline!

Ok, so I'm really going to try to just play cash games and see my results...
I've decided I will stop for 3 reasons.
1. Time commitment
2. Win $75 at table - 3X buyin
3. Lose $50 at table - 2X buyin

I started with just one table, while updating comments/reading blogs, etc..

Welcome Andy

Like the 4th hand in this came up...which I think is a great hand for discussion, my thoughts at the end are provided

I minibet the turn on purpose, really hoping that he had 2 pair or KQ for a straight. I minibet so that if he had a good hand, his check raise wouldn't pot commit me to going all in on the draw, and it worked perfectly. Once the flush hit on the river, I knew I'd take his whole stack. I paused and hit the time button on purpose, instead of pushing quickly with the flush, and again it worked.

I know some people like to check the turn with the draw to see a free river, but I think you're playing too obviously then. If I checked the turn, he would have checked the river, and I would only been able to win a small pot.
Here's a funny hand...I pressed the call button on the turn by accident...lol

New plan or no?

So I didn't follow my new plan, even though the evidence of this session only continues to prove its validity!

I ended up 4 tabling with 2 cash games and 2 $12+ $1 45 player Sit n go's

Table 1 of cash game I ended up losing $40

I played 6 sit n go's and cashed in 0.

Table 2 of cash game was the best results..

Here's hand #1...Interesting hand...I don't understand his call...

Change of game plan

So, first Kevin made a good point in saying I'm putting too much of my roll in risk.. I agree to a point...The only way we're going to have enough for Vegas is to take alittle bit of risk and build our rolls...However we should also not be putting our roll down the drain...

Which brings me to my main point... I was thinking of how frustrating it is to constantly watch all ins preflop with dominating hands, only to lose...Or even win a couple of allins that I should, only to lose on the final one right before the money... The question is how do I avoid having so many all ins preflop or on the flop? Well that's what you get in sit n gos and tourneys compared to cash games, where more skill is involved... I'm thinking trying to build a solid roll strictly though tournaments and sit n gos might not be too smart or realistic anymore...

So my new strategy is to play at least 2 cash games, and 1 tourney/sit n go at most...when i'm 3 tabling...It seems like +equity in cash games has been 100x better recently..

Lets see how this goes

Variance

I keep having to remind myself that poker is a game of variance...shoot if anyone could understand that concept it should be, someone who deals with the stock market every single day...

Obviously the last couple sessions I've been running really well, well in the fact that all my all ins where I'm dominating have been holding up...Well it didn't last too long

Last night and alittle of today morning, I underestimate that I've taken around 20 beats where all the money went in when I was a favorite and lost. Sometimes the only thing you acknowledge is the consistency of how I keep losing as the favorite...

I think i played around 20 $25+$2 Tournies (9 person, 18 person, 45 person, and even 180 person), and cashed in like 2....with 90% of the tournies ending through a bad beat...10% of the time I lost to a better hand...

Just a couple of hands off the top of my head...

* Huge cash game pot for $100, where money went all in on the turn 3 handed...flop 10 10 9... I have 99, one guy has AA, and an another just qj draw...River A

* At LEAST 10 times where I was all in tournaments with Ace Higher vs. Ace Lower, and lower card pairs

* Final table at a 45 person, I have AA vs AhKh all in preflop. Obviously he flops a flush

* 4 players left in a single table, I have k10 in BB. Flop comes 10 6 2. I check. One person bets $200, I reraise all in for $1,500 and he instacalls with 7 7. Turn 7. WTH? I don't get people who over value pocket pairs like that...

* All in with JJ vs 75(wtf?) on a 9 8 2 flop (WTF?) and turn comes 6 (WTF???!)

* 5 Allins I remember with overpairs to underpairs. They hit their sets obviously

I guess I shouldn't have made fun of Kevin for his luck...lol cuz it all came back to me...

Anyways, I somehow managed to only lose $250 through all this. My cash game table kept me decent.. and I won 1 $50 headsup match (lol i was on tilt), but seriously outplayed this game like crazy...

He won $400 chips out of the $1,500 on the first hand when we both turned flushed but his was higher...I then proceeded to dominate him for the next 30 minutes to the point where I was at $2,300 and he was at $700. He goes all in preflop with Q6 and I pick up AK. Obviously he hits runner 6's and we 're back to square one. I got down as much to 900, but managed to build my way again through steady agression. Final hand was misplayed by him dramatically.
He had AQ and just limped called. I checked my 5 8. Flop came Q 6 2. It goes check check. Turn comes a 7, so I bet min of $100, and he raises me to $300. River came a 9 and I bet all in and he calls. GG

Very frustrated but oh well...I'm used to this... hopefully my luck goes to you kevin lol

NCAA

So I'm sitting here watching UConn lost to USD, wow of all the teams!! 1 point game with 20 seconds. UConn is killing my bracket, but oh well I had them losing in the 3rd round anyways.
I must admit, I'm not doing too well in the office pool.

Overtime it is!

OMG what shot by the SD guy in the end...

So I'm going to start off 3 tabling instead of 4, because I'm tired and I'm watching the games. Too much focus is needed for 4. =)

Lost my first buy in with QQ vs K8...Raised $1.50 and K8 called...flop came K, gg.

Just took out the same guy with the K8... I'll paste..

4 Handed $6,500

3 Handed $7,000

Lost in 3rd with QcJc vs 7 5..that idiot rivered a gutshot too...pokerstars special

Table #3
Here's a random one...It was at 7/8 players when I saw, so I said what the heck...We'll see how this goes...
HORSE Sit n Go $15 + $1

Nothing special so far...

Won a razz pot! I never know what I'm doing in that game...lol, but i figure no one else does too.

Won a stud pot with trip 8's

Lost a stud pot with wired K's on the river...

Blinds are high in Omaha H/L only 1 guy out...

Survived my all in hitting a set of 6's and turning a full house in Omaha...$2,300

You know what's frustrating about HORSE, if you don't pay attention when it switches from Razz back to Stud, you can get screwed! It was Razz, and the next hand I pick up A34, so I'm about to raise, but I caught at the last second, it saying Stud now! I made that mistake before in the past...lol

LOL I lost in 4th on the wackest stud hand. We went all in on first street and freaking he wins with Ace high! and I finish with K high...lol

Started $570
Ended $562

Productive session...lol

Kevin's Blog is Boring

So Kevin's blog is pretty boring, because he keeps losing...and I keep winning, and no one wants to read a loser...lol jk...

Anyways, I was reading his blog and trying to comment on his play and talk about some hands that I was playing, when I realized I should probably just start my own blog. I won't be updating it as much as Kevin, but the goal is the same. Build our poker roll to get to Vegas!

So I cashed in $100 about a week and half ago on Pokerstars. Kevin then led me to Sharkscope, which showed my crappy sitngo results. It's still way better than Kevin's, and most importantly it's postive!

So as I'm typing this I started today at around $340.

I was 4 tabling while watching the Warriors game.

As you can see I was in the big blind with QJ suited. Not a great hand, so why did I reraise him preflop? Because he was raising almost everytime he was on the button, so I wanted to reraise him to take the pot right there. Once the flop happened, I knew I was good.

Table #2

6 Handed SitnGo
Buyin - $12 + $1

I hate 6 handed sitngo's, so I have no idea why I joined. I saw a room with 5/6 and I just clicked. In 6 handed play, the range someone can hold is so wide, that there's too much unpredictability, while in a 10 person table, people play more straightforward. Also, in a 10 person table, you'll more likely play bad players. =) So Kevin, stop playing 6 handed sit n go's that's your major fault.

Anyway, absolutely nothing interesting in this tournament. I ended up going all in later with the blinds high with a7 vs j9. 9 hits, and I'm out.

Table #3
Step 1 Sit n go - $7 + $.50

This is the exciting one. So I been reading about the whole Steps on pokerstars, where you move the ladder, trying to ultimately get to Step 6, where its a seat into the Main Event.

Players were definitely bringing their A game even though it was only a $7 buyin. I as well played supertight, folding many small pocket pairs preflop to raises. I literally just managed to stay around $1,500 by the time the blinds climbed to $100/$200. There were still 7 players left too. I was catching zero double up hands (AA, KK, QQ, JJ, AK, AQ) But I think my biggest strength in sitngo's is not panicking too early like alot of other players. I somehow managed to stay alive to 5 players floating in the $1,500-$2,000 range by stealing anytime everyone folded. With 5 players, we saw about 20 hands, with nothing happening!

Then in 3 swift hands it all ended...

Hand #1 I pushed all in with K6, BB called with 10 9, and I won the coinflip!

YOU GOTTA LOVE THAT 1 OUTER ON THE RIVER...IT WAS WEIRD, I ACTUALLY FELT IT COMING. Took out 2 players in that hand. Now 3 handed. I had no idea that we only had to play to final 2.

Whoops I win Step 1 on my first try! I was kind of mad, I wanted to take out the last player...

Table #4
45 Player Turbo Sitngo - $25 + $2

I really like these multi-table turbo sitngo's...I've been doing really well in them... A couple months ago I won one for $350...

I was pretty much dominating from start to finish. I doubled up early on in the big blind

Alot of people dramatically overplay their flush draws on paired boards!

On my way to the final table, I took a couple of short stacks out with JJ. Not too much interesting.

One of the first hands in the final table was interesting...

I'm happy with the way I played, because the one point where I was losing in the hand, I checked. Great river card for me!

The only other thing worth noting was when we were 4 handed, I went all in with 9d8d and beat QJ.

I finished in second place going out with A5 vs 10 10.

I'm happy cashing for $241!!

Start - $340
End - $570 + 1 Entry for Step 2 Tournament

It was a good session.
