Variance

I keep having to remind myself that poker is a game of variance...shoot if anyone could understand that concept it should be, someone who deals with the stock market every single day...

Obviously the last couple sessions I've been running really well, well in the fact that all my all ins where I'm dominating have been holding up...Well it didn't last too long

Last night and alittle of today morning, I underestimate that I've taken around 20 beats where all the money went in when I was a favorite and lost. Sometimes the only thing you acknowledge is the consistency of how I keep losing as the favorite...

I think i played around 20 $25+$2 Tournies (9 person, 18 person, 45 person, and even 180 person), and cashed in like 2....with 90% of the tournies ending through a bad beat...10% of the time I lost to a better hand...

Just a couple of hands off the top of my head...

* Huge cash game pot for $100, where money went all in on the turn 3 handed...flop 10 10 9... I have 99, one guy has AA, and an another just qj draw...River A

* At LEAST 10 times where I was all in tournaments with Ace Higher vs. Ace Lower, and lower card pairs

* Final table at a 45 person, I have AA vs AhKh all in preflop. Obviously he flops a flush

* 4 players left in a single table, I have k10 in BB. Flop comes 10 6 2. I check. One person bets $200, I reraise all in for $1,500 and he instacalls with 7 7. Turn 7. WTH? I don't get people who over value pocket pairs like that...

* All in with JJ vs 75(wtf?) on a 9 8 2 flop (WTF?) and turn comes 6 (WTF???!)

* 5 Allins I remember with overpairs to underpairs. They hit their sets obviously

I guess I shouldn't have made fun of Kevin for his luck...lol cuz it all came back to me...

Anyways, I somehow managed to only lose $250 through all this. My cash game table kept me decent.. and I won 1 $50 headsup match (lol i was on tilt), but seriously outplayed this game like crazy...

He won $400 chips out of the $1,500 on the first hand when we both turned flushed but his was higher...I then proceeded to dominate him for the next 30 minutes to the point where I was at $2,300 and he was at $700. He goes all in preflop with Q6 and I pick up AK. Obviously he hits runner 6's and we 're back to square one. I got down as much to 900, but managed to build my way again through steady agression. Final hand was misplayed by him dramatically.
He had AQ and just limped called. I checked my 5 8. Flop came Q 6 2. It goes check check. Turn comes a 7, so I bet min of $100, and he raises me to $300. River came a 9 and I bet all in and he calls. GG

Very frustrated but oh well...I'm used to this... hopefully my luck goes to you kevin lol

Starting roll on Friday - $570
Ending on Saturday - $325

In terms of cool, I'm like a blazing inferno. said...

looks like we're back to square one. i think you're taking too big of risks with your roll unless you are planning on just using regular money to play with in vegas.
